The future is slowly approaching, and within it, you will find a plethora of OLED’s

Think about a Heads-up display for your car, or a display in some futuristic clothing. Or how about a big-screen TV that could be less that a quarter-inch thick, and can even be rolled up for storage when not in use. This is all possible with OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode).
This high-tech display is already in use today in the new Microsoft Zune, and is available in some small high-end televisions. It is much more energy-efficient, because it produces its own light when electricity is applied to it. That means no more big, bulky backlighting.
Now, because this new technology is still in its relative infancy, there are still a few problems, such as production cost. This is why you see OLED TV’s being sold for several thousand dollars. But, within time, these will go down.
Other possible implementations could be in wristwatches, for longer lasting battery life, and pretty much anywhere you might see a display.
